Am I expecting too much or being over-sensitive?

Sounds like a normal guy to me, just being honest. I don't know how your guy is but with mine I would have to do something that makes him happy and then during that bring up my issue I'm having, so that he would listen. Let him know you care and would like him to show that he does too.
